Howdy Folks, it’s that time of year again! Time to remember Eric on his 63rd birthday today. Most of us know that if he was here in the flesh with us today, you’d be receiving a call from him reminding you of his birthday in case you forget. He’d tell some jokes and stories to make you laugh and he would succeed, you know it. As usual Eric’s Spirit continues to channel me to give you reminders a couple of times a year to remember him.
His Spirit wants you to remember how funny and fun he was. How thoughtful and considerate he was. How a stand-up guy he was who wore his emotions on his sleeve. He wasn’t afraid to let you know how he truly felt. How he would be there for you. How he would always be the life of the party even if it was just a party of two or four.
I have fun memories of us dancing at Night Clubs to house music and because he loved stepping music as I did and do, he insisted I teach him how to “Step” so we could Step at the Clubs. Some of you guys might know Stepping as Bopping. When he finally learned how to Step, which took only three lessons from me, he was so happy. We went Stepping the whole summer that year. We had a ball!
At one Club there was a gentleman that stood with a cane. When Eric and I would come in and had danced a good while, the gentleman would come over every time to ask Eric, “Man, do you mind if I Step with your Lady?” Eric would reply, “Sure man only if she wants to.” Eric and I both noticed that no other ladies would Step with the gentleman because he had a cane but it didn’t bother mel. The cane didn’t get in the way at all. Eric and I had a bunch of fun dancing. He was good on his feet. If he was still here, we’d probably still be dancing.
So, on Eric’s 63rd Birthday, I hope you have a memory of Eric you can think about or even share with someone as a reminder of him on his special day today. He’d love that immensely!
